Community

Veolia Transport has developed strong relationships with our local community through its sponsorships and donations programs.

Veolia Spirit Program
Veolia Transport employees can elect to make a regular donation to selected charities from their pre-tax pay and Veolia Transport matches this donation. The Veolia Spirit program increases the impact of employee donations and allows charities to plan activities around a regular income stream. The charities benefiting from the Veolia Spirit program were identified through an employee survey.

Nationally, Veolia Transport employees support:

- Cancer Council

- Children’s Hospital Foundation

- RSPCA

- Australian Council of State Emergency Services

- WWF

In Queensland, our employees selected BoysTown and Youngcare.

School supporter
Veolia Transport is an active supporter of schools in the Redlands Shire region. For example, Veolia Transport is a cash supporter of school fetes at Coolwympin State, Redlands College and St Anthony’s schools.

Safety

Veolia Transport is continually working to improve our health and safety performance. We have recently obtained AS/NZS 4801 accreditation. AS/NZS 4801 is the Australian Standard and New Zealand Standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

Vigil Vanguard

This is a system that provides drivers with real time feedback on their driving techniuques and how they can improve passenger comfort and safety on the vehicle.

Environment

Veolia Transport employees are actively identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impact.

Reuse and recycle

During 2009, Veolia Transport established a comprehensive paper and cardboard recycling system at the Capalaba depot. There are now four recycling points located at the depot.

During 2010, Veolia Transport plans to upgrade its bus washing facility. This upgrade will include the installation of a rain water harvesting facility to allow us to efficiently capture and reuse this precious resource.
